A Maine State Senate primary will go to ranked choice voting.

The Secretary of State’s office says the race for the Republican nomination in Maine State Senate District 16 will be determined in a ranked choice runoff.

The three-way race is between Michael Perkins, Kevin Kitchin and Mark Andre. None received more than 50% of the vote, with Perkins getting the largest share at about 44%.

That district covers Waterville, Albion, Fairfield, Oakland and Winslow.

The ranked choice tabulations will take place Thursday afternoon.
