The Alna Store in the rural town of Alna, Maine has made the New York Times list of America’s 50 Best Restaurants.

The Times says the Alma Store looks like the old-time country shop that it was for decades on a rural crossroads.

The review says the ambitious restaurant serves a thoroughly local menu that’s full of sophisticated touches without being pretentious.

The Times says the Alna Store is a great option for people willing to take a long drive to Midcoast Maine during daylight hours.

Of the 50 best restaurants, 29 are newly opened since the Times announced its 2023 list. The Alna Store was opened in 2022 Jasper Ludwig and Brian Haskins. It earned a James Beard Award nomination this year for Best New Restaurant.

Other New England restaurants on the New York Times Top 50 list for 2024 are The Shipwright’s Daughter in Mystic, Connecticut, Somaek in Boston, and Gift Horse in Providence, Rhode Island.
