Body of missing Rumford man found, foul play not suspected

UPDATE 5/16/25:

Police said Gilbert’s body was found about one-and-a-half miles into the woods at Joe’s Pond.

Police believe the death was a suicide.

Police are looking for a man from Rumford who went missing this week.

Rumford police say 38-year-old Christopher Gilbert was last seen making plans with a family member Monday morning in Rumford.

Gilbert is a white man, 6’3″ tall weighing 200 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.

Police also say Gilbert recently suffered a personal loss, but it’s unclear if his disappearance is connected.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Rumford police.
