Police in Rumford are investigating gunfire damage to a clock tower.

Police say a crane was used Wednesday to investigate damage to the clock tower, which is part of the historic Rumford Municipal Building.

It follows reports of gunshots on multiple nights this month.

So far, police have made three arrests in connection with incidents nearby on Waldo Street this month, including a double stabbing.

In a statement, Rumford Police Chief Tony Milligan said in part:

“Let me be clear: Enough is enough. We will not allow the reckless and dangerous actions of a few individuals to define our community or undermine the quality of life our residents deserve. Rumford is a good community filled with good people, and we intend to do everything within our lawful authority to keep it that way.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Rumford Police at (207) 364-4551.
