SACO, Maine (AP)   Police in Maine are warning residents about a fundraising phone scam.

The Portland Press Herald reports callers are posing as members of the Saco Police Department and the Maine Association of Police to collect donations to help with budget issues. Saco police say neither the department nor the Maine Association of Police would ask for money in that manner.

Authorities say residents should hang up if they receive any fundraising calls.
