Police say they are looking for a man who struck and killed a moose while driving a stolen vehicle in the Rangeley area.

According to CBS 13, the stolen Ford Ranger crashed into the animal on July 24.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. on Route 4 in Sandy River Plantation.

Police say the man continued to drive the damaged pickup until it couldn’t go any further and then stole a Chevy Suburban from a driveway in Rangeley.

At about 2 a.m., a 36-year-old Yarmouth woman drove over the dead moose and rolled her vehicle over.

No update on the woman’s condition was immediately provided by police.

The stolen Suburban was later recovered on Route 27 in New Vineyard.
