Skowhegan man Drowns While Boating on the Kennebec River

A Skowhegan man drowned while boating on the Kennebec River, Saturday morning.

A boat traveling up the river of the Hinkley Boat Launch in Skowhegan at around 11:20 am, when 21-year-old Jakub Prokop was thrown from the boat and would eventually drown in the river.

Prokop was a passenger and wasn’t wearing a lifejacket.

The incident remains under investigation.
