A convenience store in South Portland is stepping up their safety procedures during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Broadway Variety is following Governor Mills’ order to maintain social distancing between customers very seriously.

They not only have safety cones set up to organize lines outside but they also have a worker at the entrance making sure more than 5 people do not go inside at all times.

The store manager says they only had a day to organize a system.

“We had to make sure we had a plan in place for making sure that customers lines would be formed inside and formed outside because we get quite busy at times. We have 5 people in here at any given moment all of a sudden,” says Justin West, store manager at Broadway Variety.

West says they also provide masks, gloves and hand sanitizer to their cashiers.

They also encourage customers to use the hand sanitizer they have on hand as they walk inside the store.
