SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) An urgent care center in South Portland is offering coronavirus antibody testing.

The tests, being administered at AFC Urgent Care, can determine whether or not an individual has been exposed to COVID-19 and developed antibodies for it. It can be useful for those who have been exposed to the virus but did not develop symptoms, or who have been sick recently but never received a coronavirus test.

The facility is accepting walk-ins Monday through Friday, and will allow six people in the waiting room at one time.

Anyone wishing to get the test must be showing no symptoms for 14 days.

Antibody testing has been deployed in areas around the country to determine how much of the population has already had coronavirus and may not have known, as public health officials still work to get a handle on the disease’s fatality and spread.
