Squirt Gun Bank Robber Gets Indicted

A South Portland man who robbed a bank with a squirt gun has been indicted on a Class B robbery charge.

The Portland Press Herald reports 70-year-old Donald Sturton told police he was struggling to pay bills and was taking medication to treat anxiety and depression at the time of the crime. On March 7, Sturton stole $895 from the Bank of America before South Portland police caught him at the bus stop.

The maximum penalty for the crime is 10 years behind bars.
