LIMINGTON, Maine (WGAN) Police say a Standish man is facing charges after breaking into the home of a York County Corrections Officer.
The York County Sheriff’s Office says Officer Sean Wilson was at his home around 2:30 p.m. getting ready to go to work when he heard his door crash open. Police say Wilson was home alone with two of his children, both under four years old. He was waiting for his three older children to get home so he could go to work.
Police say Wilson noticed the man, 35-year-old Anthony Jones, was sweating profusely and bleeding from the mouth. Jones was rambling about people chasing him and appeared to be delirious, according to police.
Wilson yelled at his children to get into a back bedroom and told Jones to lie on the floor and remain still. Jones ignored the order and started walking to the back rooms, where Wilson’s kids were. Police say Wilson took Jones to the floor while calling 911.
Wilson restrained Jones until York County sheriff’s deputies arrived and arrested him for burglary. They say Jones was also wanted for violating his probation stemming from a domestic incident in Cumberland County.
Jones was taken to the hospital where he was admitted for observation due to his condition. Police say he was going to be booked at the jail once he was released.
Police say Wilson does not know Jones or recall ever encountering him at the jail.
“It appears at this time that Jones simply picked the wrong house to burglarize,” say police.
