(WGAN) A Friday storm will bring widespread rainfall and strong winds to the area.

Forecasters said wind gusts could top 40 mph along the coast.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The agency said winds that strong can make driving difficult at times.

The weather service also said downed trees and tree limbs could damage power lines, possibly resulting in outages, but forecasters didn’t expect potential outages to be widespread.

In the waters off Portland, a gale warning was issued until midnight. The high winds were expected to cause hazardous seas, which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
