CHELSEA, Maine (WGAN)  Police say a two-year-old boy was found in the middle of a road in Chelsea Monday morning.

Our info partners at Channel 13 report that the boy was found at the intersection of Route 9 and Gilbert Drive around 10:12 a.m.

Police say motorists stopped and helped the boy, giving him a clean diaper while police arrived.

Police say the boy had gotten away from his aunt.  They aren’t sure how long he was on his own, but say that he is OK.

Police say no charges were filed, but a report was sent to the Department of Health and Human Services.

The boy has been returned to his mother.
