Police say two accidents involving tractor-trailer trucks blocked northbound lanes on the Maine Turnpike in Kennebunk and at the Saco-Scarborough line Monday afternoon.

State Police Spokesman Steve McCausland says the crashes at mile markers 25 and 29 were being cleared by a wrecker, but backups were expected for the rest of the afternoon, with the tractor-trailers blocking the northbound lanes.

Police say several other crashes were reported due to whiteout conditions on the southern end of the turnpike. No injuries were reported.

The speed limit on the turnpike was reduced to 45 MPH earlier on Monday.
