Two men suffer only minor injuries after plane crashes into Rangeley Lake

RANGELEY LAKE, Maine (WGAN)  Two men escaped serious injury Thursday afternoon when the small float plane they were in crashed into Rangeley Lake.

The plane was attempting to take off from the water and got about 50 feet in the air when it crashed, coming to rest upside down, according to State Police.

The two men were able to get out of the plane and swam to shore.

The pilot was 69-year-old David Taisey of Pownal and his passenger was 53-year-old Mike Koob of Oquossoc.  The plane was flying to Bangor.

Both men had minor injuries and were treated and released from the local medical center.

The FAA will investigate the cause of the crash.
