Winslow Business Ravaged By Fire, Numerous Emergency Crews Respond

A massive fire destroyed a building supply business in Winslow Friday afternoon.

The McCormack Building Supply building on Lithgow Street was engulfed in flames, as black smoke, which could be seen for miles, billowed into the air.

Winslow fire Chief Ronnie Rodriguez said there were no injuries to any of the employees or fire department personnel.

According to Rodrigez, firefighters from Waterville, Fairfield/Benton, Vassalboro, Oakland, Sydney, China Village, Weeks Mill and Albion provided crews and equipment to assist in battling the blaze.

The Winslow Police Department responded to perform traffic control. The intersection of Augusta and China roads were shut down, as fire crews worked to knock down the flames.

Rodrigez said Rita’s House of Pizza, Pleau’s Market, Subway, McDonald’s and Bangor Savings Bank assisted responders by providing food and water.
