Woman Hit by Truck While Getting Her Mail

RAYMOND, Maine (WGAN)  The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an car accident involving a pedestrian.

Police say at 12:21 p.m. Thursday, 61-year-old Joan Bellows was getting the mail from her mailbox alongside the road on Mill Street when she was hit by a Ford F-150.

Police say Bellows was taken to Maine Medical Center with broken bones and abrasions.  Her injuries aren’t considered life-threatening.

Police say 25-year-old Alex Hackworth from Southampton, Mass. was driving the truck.  He was not injured.

Police say no charges are pending at this time.

The accident is under investigation.
