Woman in Penobscot County accused of leaving cats in abandoned home without food, water


A woman has been charged with cruelty to animals after police say she left two cats in an abandoned home in East Millinocket.

Police say RachealJo White, 25, had moved out of the home on Elm Street and left the cats behind.

They say the home was left in disarray and it appears the cats were left there for several days without food and water.

White is scheduled to appear in court in February.

Additional charges are possible after the case is reviewed by the District Attorneys Office.

Police said the cats were removed from the home and “clearly in need of nourishment.”
