Maine Points: AFFM Maine & The Kinship Program

Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine & The Kinship Program is a non-profit organization that provides supports (such as support groups, peer support, relevant trainings) and resources (such as placement bags, hygiene items, clothing closet, lending library, and more) to foster, adoptive, and kinship families throughout the state

Kinship families can be grandparents raising grandchildren, aunts or uncles raising nieces or nephews, relatives raising relatives or having a previous relationship with a child before they came into care (teacher and student, family friend, neighbor). We provide support and resources to all kinship families, formal or in-formal, meaning whether or not there is DHHS involvement

To celebrate National Foster Care Awareness month AFFM (in conjunction with DHHS, A Family for Me, and Maine YLAT) is hosting Family and Community Fun Days at Fort Knox in Prospect on May 17th and at Fort Williams on May 31st. Families will enjoy a cookout, participate in fun and games, and connect with each other!
