Crash involving bus in Westbrook leads to multiple injuries

Multiple injuries were reported after a crash involving a METRO Bus in Westbrook Friday morning.

The Westbrook Fire Department said Route 25 was closed at Mechanic Street for an extended period.

Police said a vehicle heading east went through a red light at the intersection around 10 a.m., causing the bus to strike the vehicle and send it into a third vehicle.

The driver of the bus, which had no passengers, was hospitalized, while three other people involved in the crash suffered minor injuries.

A dog was taken to an emergency animal hospital.
