A crash involving four vehicles in Waldoboro on Tuesday left two people injured and caused a traffic backup.

Police say the crash happened on Route 1 between R-S Auto and Moody’s Diner just after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities said a Jeep being driven by 28-year-old Zachary Elwell of Oakland crossed the centerline and hit three oncoming vehicles.

Elwell and a Cushing woman who was driving one of the vehicles were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say they expect Elwell to face charges.
