Route 1 in Scarborough reopens after gas main leak

UPDATE 1:10pm: Route 1 has been reopened.

A gas main leak forced police to close part of Route 1 in Scarborough late Friday morning.

The Scarborough Police Dept. announced at about 10:35 a.m. that Route 1 was closed in both directions between Route 114 and Haigis Parkway.

Police asked drivers to seek an alternate route and avoid the area.
