Pittsfield EMT Bryan Clement has started a GoFundMe page for victims and families of the Searmont lumber mill explosion and fire.

Community members have made more than donations ranging from $20 to $1,000 with almost $25,000 raised so far.

Clement says the recovery ahead will be difficult, especially for burn victims.

According to the GoFundMe page, the money is going directly to the families of the firefighters or to the firefighters themselves.

Clement said getting the money dispersed quickly is important because many expenses are immediate.

“This is a tragic event that will be remembered for decades, and the sacrifice firefighters make for our community should be held forefront in our minds,” said Clement
