AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) Maine Democratic Gov. Janet Mills plans to keep three commissioners who served under Republican Gov. Paul LePage.

Mills announced Thursday on her first full day on the job that she’s re-nominating Patrick Keliher as commissioner of the Department of Marine Resources, and Anne Head as commissioner of Department of Professional and Financial Regulation.

She’s also re-nominating Maj. General Douglas Farnham as commissioner of the Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management. He also serves as adjutant general of the Maine National Guard.

Mills called the three “qualified and experienced public servants.” She said their collective knowledge and decades of experience are “incredible assets to our state.”

All three were appointed by LePage, and must be confirmed by the Maine Senate.
