A home in Limerick was destroyed in a fire Thursday night, leaving a family with no place to live.

The fire at the home on Brookside Lane was extinguished around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Limerick Fire Chief Vincent Pelletier. Eight other departments helped battle the blaze, but the house was considered a total loss.

Pelletier says the family wasn’t home at the time and stayed in a hotel overnight.

The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
