A 38-year-old Lewiston man faces major drug trafficking charges after police say he dealt drugs out of his downtown Lewiston business.
The Main Drug Enforcement Agency says it conducted a three month investigation in the greater Lewiston-Auburn area, during which its agents purchased cocaine directly from Sami-Luqman Muhammad.

MDEA says its agents then conducted a search of Muhammad’s exotic plant store in downtown Lewiston, The Garden of Via, and seized 150 grams of cocaine and ecstasy.
The agency says its agents also found $2,600 in suspected drug trafficking money at Muhammad’s residence on Webster Street.
Agents say Muhammad was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop after leaving his Webster Street residence. He was taken to the Androscoggin Jail where bail was set at $20,000 cash.
He’s charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Cocaine) Class A and Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (MDMA) Class A
Agents say more charges are forthcoming in the case.
MDEA says it was assisted in its investigation of Muhammad by Assisting in this investigation and search warrants were representatives from the Lewiston and Auburn Police Departments, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
