A 59-year-old Norridgewock man is pleading not guilty to murder in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend’s son.

Police say Daniel Markey got into a fight with 38-year-old Christopher Nickerson.

Markey’s girlfriend, who is also Nickerson’s mother, told officers the fight started after Nickerson confronted Markey about the way he was speaking to her.

Police say Markey then went to a marijuana grow house on the property to get a gun, and returned to the home, shooting Nickerson numerous times.

Officers say Markey drove to Skowhegan to turn himself in to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and told deputies he shot Nickerson after Nickerson attacked him.

The mother said she saw her son, Nickerson, put his hands in the air before he was shot.

Markey is being held without bail at the Somerset County Jail.
