AUGUSTA, Maine (AP)   The Maine Parole Board has once again rejected a request for early release for a Maine State Prison inmate convicted of killing a West Gardiner woman in 1973.

Monday marked the fifth time the family of Debra Dill traveled to the Knox County Courthouse to urge the board to deny parole for Michael Boucher Sr.

The Kennebec Journal reports that the board rejected Boucher’s latet request for parole.

Debra Dill was 18 when Boucher bumped her car and caused it to crash in Litchfield as she drove home from Lewiston Fair. She was strangled and beaten with a hammer.

The 68-year-old Boucher is one of three remaining inmates who are eligible to seek parole in Maine. Boucher, who’s serving a life prison sentence, can reapply for parole in five years.
