Sanford firefighters rescued a person who was stuck in a garbage truck after falling asleep in a dumpster.

The Sanford Fire Department says the homeless person fell asleep in the dumpster near the Sanford House of Pizza and was accidentally dumped in the garbage truck Wednesday morning.

The person, who’s not been identified, was removed using a system of ropes and pulley attached to a firetruck ladder.

The person was taken to Maine Medical Center as a precaution but did not appear to have any external injuries.
