Maine State Police say a person in crisis was involved in a crash on the Piscataqua River Bridge.

Police responded to two calls on the bridge near mile marker 3 southbound around 9:15 a.m. Friday.

The first caller reported a two-vehicle crash, and another later reported a male who appeared to be preparing to jump from the bridge.

Traffic was held up for about 30 minutes while Kittery Police negotiated with him, then took him into custody for a mental health evaluation.

Police say the individual was involved in the earlier crash, which caused minor damage to both vehicles but no injuries.
