Portland Man Arrested in Attempted Stabbing, Vehicle Theft

A 33-year-old Portland man faces numerous charges after being accused of trying to stab a person before stealing their vehicle Wednesday night.

Police were called to the area of Commercial and High Streets for a report of a motor vehicle theft and an attempted stabbing. They say upon arrival, witnesses pointed out the suspect, Seth Mccallum who was wielding a knife and was quickly taken into custody.

Police say witnesses told them McCallum previously had attempted to stab the victim, before getting into the victim’s vehicle and driving a short distance. They say the witnesses said he then exited the car and caused damage to the vehicle, including slashing two tires.

No one was injured in the incident.

Officers say McCallum faces charges of Robbery, Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon, Aggravated Criminal Mischief, Theft by Unauthorized Use of Property and Interference with Constitutional Rights.

He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
