Beachgoers were told to get out of the water after a shark was spotted off the coast of Biddeford Thursday.
News Center Maine reports that a lifeguard spotted a shark fin in the water around 1 p.m. at Middle Beach.
The lifeguard blew his whistle, the red flag was raised, and everyone was told to return to shore as a precautionary measure.
Beachgoers were given all clear to go back in the water an hour later.
According to the Bangor Daily News, the shark sighting came a week after fishermen caught a great white off the coast of Cape Elizabeth.
