The IRS has reopened its Taxpayer Assistance Centers in Augusta and Bangor.

The IRS announced that both locations reopened on Monday, after they were closed back in the spring.

Members of Maine’s congressional delegation pushed to have the centers reopened, with some taxpayers having to drive hundreds of miles to South Portland to get to the only other assistance center in the state.

A virtual taxpayer service location in Presque Isle is available Tuesdays and Thursdays.
