Crews from ten different fire departments responded to a large structure fire in Durham Saturday evening.
In a Facebook post, the Durham Fire and Rescue Department said they dispatched crews to 422 Meadow Road around 9:30 p.m. Durham Fire Chief Rob Tripp told WGAN the fire was extinguished at around 7 a.m., roughly 10 hours after the initial call.
The fire came from a barn or garage and was threatening a residence nearby. Officials say they were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the house, but the structure is considered a complete loss. The house had limited damage to the siding and exterior windows.
Fire departments from surrounding towns joined in the effort to put out the blaze including Yarmouth, Lewiston, Auburn, New Gloucester, Pownal, Freeport, Brunswick and Lisbon.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
