Two water related injuries at Acadia National Park send 2 people to the hospital by lifeflight

As reported by our news partners at WGME 13 two people were life flighted due to water related injuries at Acadia National Park yesterday.  In the first incident an 18 year old man dove into shallow water.  Bystanders including a trauma nurse stabilized him on a backboard and he was life flighted in Bangor.

In the second incident an hour later a six year old boy slid down a slope and fell 50 feet into a pool of water at the cannon Brook trail.  He suffered head and neck injuries.  He was life flighted into Bar Harbor around 7pm.

Acadia officials report a 65 percent increase in rescues compared to 2019.
